Mt Everest v/s Mt. Kailash- Exploring the roof of the Universe

Mt Kailash and Mt Everest both are part of great Himalayas, which is more spectacular ?

While Mt.Everest is undisputed king of mountains and known as the highest peak in the world sitting at a height of 8848 meters around 29,000 feet above sea level while Kailash trek is 6714 metres around 22,000 feet.

Kailash Mansarovar trek is not strenuous like Mt. Everest as involves only 53 kms circumambulation of holy peak they complete which in 3 days with help of porters and yaks or walking with no ropes or harness  for support 

As compared to vertical Mt Everest with frequent landslides and Avalanches Mt Everest is one of the most difficult trek in the world not only for average humans but also for mountaineers 



One of the most cherished and sought after tourist destination in the world, while Mt.Everest trek is mainly for mountaineers and trekkers however Mt. Kailash is for spiritual pilgrims and Lord Shiva believes amongst all communities largely for Hindus, Bongs, Jains and Buddhism followers.


The tallest peak of world Mt.Everest  has it own spectacular beauty  Kailash Mansarovar circuit is mystical and full of natural landscapes. We also know Kailash circuit as “Precious jewel of the snow” as usually all the year round Mt. Kailash peak is snow clad around the year. 

Best time to visit Kailash starts from May and ends at September every year due to good weather conditions.


Mt. Everest and Mt.Kailash are geographically too far from each other around 641 kms and  Mt. Kailash peak is birthplace  the source of 4 large rivers - The Brahmaputra, The Indus, The Ganges and The Sutlej River  which are a source of life for South Asia

Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand) - 24 days 

Nathula Pass (Sikkim)- 21 days 


It takes generally 2 months to trek Mt Everest from base camp which is at 5,300 metres above sea level, scaling Mt. Everest is no easy feat requires years of practice, trekking skills and a lot of physical strength however as compared to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra which is accomplished in 10-15 days doesn’t require any special training or trekking experience it only requires the strong will and belief in Lord Shiva only climate changes are very frequent at Kailash region which pilgrims find it difficult other than this factor Kailash is not a destination it is the journey to re-discover yourself.

If you have the interest in history and spirituality then Mount Kailash is a winner, it will spellbound you with natural views and fresh-water lake Mansarovar will leave you astonished and startled.
